TUNES FROM TEESDALE
Through 2016-17, Cream Tees worked with guest tutors to rehearse, record & perform a collection of songs & tunes first recorded in the Teesdale area.
Over one very hot and sunny weekend at Coquetdale Music Trust (The Old Church Studio) in Rothbury, Northumberland Cream Tees recorded this collection of songs & tunes to mark an important milestone in Cream Tees history as a youth folk band.
With many of the band’s original members heading off towards college & university, the album marked the hard work the group had put into learning, playing & performing these local tunes - first uncovered by M@HoT Researcher Mike Bettison.
Having worked with guest tutors Niamh Bodel, Anna Hughes, Elinor Creaby-Atwood & Jon Doran (all final year students from Newcastle University’s Folk & Trad Music BA) in their weekly sessions throughout the year, the recording weekend was a fitting close to our oldest participants time in the band; as well as creating a lasting legacy for the project.
